  • Motivation Monday: Balancing Your Needs With Your Family's Needs

    This past weekend, did you find yourself in a constant state of running around to get errands done and to accommodate your family’s needs? Do you feel like you really didn’t leave any time for yourself? We can definitely relate! At times we become so focused on everyone else’s needs that we completely forget to check in with ourselves and see how we’re doing and what we need. That’s why today’s post is all about remembering to have an even balance between your family’s needs and your own.

    Make Your Needs Just As Much Of A Priority

    We make so many lists to remind ourselves what we have to get done for the week, like what groceries to buy, what bills need to be paid, the dates and times of our kid’s soccer game and dentist appointment. Often times those lists lack what we personally need to take care of and have been putting off. That’s when it’s time to realize you deserve to make your needs a priority and start incorporating them into your lists.

    For example, if you’ve been putting off going to the doctor’s office to get something checked out, stop waiting and make an appointment to go this week. Your health is just as important as anyone’s in your family. Another thing you could be neglecting about yourself is not eating healthy foods. It’s so easy to just grab any food, when you’re on-the-go and not make the time to cook healthy meals for yourself. Stop putting your health last and start taking more control of your life by prepping a healthy meal plan for yourself and your family at the start of each week.     Check Your Happiness Level

    When we don’t set aside some time for ourselves to do things that we enjoy, it can cause us to feel unhappy and even more stressed out. That’s why it’s so important to check in with yourself on a daily basis and evaluate your level of happiness. If you find you’re feeling low that day, think of what you can do to make yourself happier.

    It could be something as simple as treating yourself to coffee at your favorite coffee shop or going to get your nails done that afternoon. If you miss doing an activity like hiking or reading a book, then plan out a few hours each week to do those activities you enjoy. If there’s something new you’ve been wanting to try, like rock climbing or taking an improv class, then go out and have fun trying it out! You deserve to give yourself time every week to do things that make you happy and you shouldn’t feel guilty about it.

    Maintain A Balance Between Your Needs & Your Family’s Needs

    We have so many things that we have to do and take care of each week, which is why it’s so  necessary to maintain a balance of your time and energy between yourself and your family. Always remember that your health and happiness is just as important as your family’s health and happiness. Your family knows how hard you work every day, and they would want you to take care of yourself just as well as you take care of them.
