Susan disagrees with the score for Morning Star Farms Mushroom Lover's Veggie Burgers (9 oz.).

Susan feels that the score should be A- (85-92).

The reason is: Very filling, low sodium, only 9%. Lots of soy, which is controversial, but some people call it a plus. Talk about plus, weight waters points points plus is only 2. Really, when you get a food that is so easy to prepare, and so filling it stops you from munching down junk, it really is a good item. I try to do one a day.

We appreciate the convenience and filling nature of this product, and that it helps you achieve your nutritional goals. However, our score is based not only on the nutritional value of a product but also on the quality of the ingredients. Many of the ingredients that we highlight as "controversial" in this product, such as Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein and Disodium Guanylate, are actually names for MSG or MSG-like products (www.foodfacts.com/controversial/monosodium-glutamate-msg). "Natural Flavors" is a label that covers a multitude of chemicals and ingredients that food manufacturers choose not to disclose (www.foodfacts.com/controversial/natural-flavoring). We list these as controversial and it impacts the score negatively.
