M. Alpina Oil

Mortierella alpina oil (ARA) is a source of arachidonic acid. DHA and ARA are fats that are naturally found in breastmilk. In the body, you can find high amounts of these fats in the brain and eyes. Many scientists believe that ARA and DHA(docosahexaenoic acid)are most important for infants when the eyes and brain are rapidly growing and developing (in the last trimester of pregnancy to around 18 months of life). DHA and ARA are fats that are naturally found in breastmilk. In the body, you can find high amounts of these fats in the brain and eyes. The oil that provides the ARA is made by fungi (Mortierella alpina). These are the same fungi and microalgae that are commonly eaten by fish and animals.
