Alpha-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate, abbreviated as TPGS, is a water-soluble derivative of d-alpha-tocopheryl succinate. TPGS is used as a water-soluble delivery form of vitamin E for those with fat malabsorption syndromes, such as chronic childhood cholestasis. It is also used as an absorption and bioavailability enhancer for certain water-insoluble drugs (e.g. the HIV protease inhibitor amprenavir) and fat-soluble vitamins such as vitamin D.
