Sugar syrups, no matter from sugar itself or from a grain such as corn, rice or oats, are often confused with syrup solids. Syrup solids are dehydrated and processed into a powder form and are not as sweet. If used as a sweetener, twice as much may be needed to obtain optimal sweetness, so it is important to check the products grams of sugar to insure you have not exceeded your daily recommended value. The origin of the syrup solid SHOULD be listed, but we have found this is not the case in many products, including generic products and those manufactured outside of the USA. We have crossed Syrup with the origins of ALL sugar syrups, as to alert those with allergies and sensitivities to ingredients it may be made of.
