Basmati (Hindi: ??????, Kannada: ???????, Urdu: ??????, Telugu: ???????, Bengali: ??????) is a variety of long grain rice, grown in India and Pakistan notable for its fragrance and delicate, nuanced flavour. Its name means "the fragrant one" in Sanskrit, but it can also mean "the soft rice."
