Azodicarbonamide: Azodicarbonamide , the recently coined "yoga mat chemical," occurs as a yellow to orange red, odorless, crystalline powder. Used as a strengthening agent for flour,  Azodicarbonamide is most commonly used for making "foamed" plastics (i.e. various rubbers, such as gym mats, etc.).This food additive is not only banned in Australia and Europe, but is also ILLEGAL in Singapore, incurring up to a whopping 15 years in prison and a fine of $450,000 if you're caught using it in food. Azodicarbonamide is also linked to possibly causing asthma According to, azodicarbonamide is listed as having "...toxicity to humans, including carcinogenicity, reproductive and developmental toxicity, neurotoxicity, and acute toxicity".
