Controversial: Xanthan Gum

If your baby food uses xanthan gum as a thickener, you'll definitely want to read what our nutrition department has researched:

Xanthan gum, a common thickener used in adult foods and in a formula called SimplyThick, has come under scrutiny for being linked to necrotizing enterocolitis in infants, some leading to death . Xanthan gum hasn't been tested on infants. 

"The authors of the F.D.A. report theorized that the infants’ intestinal membranes could have been damaged by bacteria breaking down the xanthan gum into too many toxic byproducts."
