With poster ads saying “Flu shots are so last year” and commercials suggesting VitaminWater will keep you healthy enough to use your sick days for fun days, it’s no wonder they are starting to take heat for misleading advertising. After all, there is a good amount of sugar added to this “water” brand.
The National Consumers League, a nonprofit watchdog group filled a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission to try to stop what they say are deceptive ads. They say Vitaminwater is deceptive in it’s labeling too, making claims that make consumers think the product is just Vitamins and Water. The drink has 125 calories per bottle compared to a bottle of water, which has 0 calories. Vitaminwater is owned by Coca-Cola.
