Food Allergy Awareness Week | Foodfacts.com
Food Allergy Awareness Week is May 9-15, 2010. This week is a great way to increase awareness about food allergies in your school or community. FAAN (Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network) has some great ideas about how to do educate others here. They also have a FAAN You Tube Video for FAAW.
Last year, in Colorado, Governor Ritter signed into law a bill requiring all school districts to create a policy for food allergic students. That was a great way to increase awareness!
One school district has sent out an e-mail in past years during FAAW detailing statistics of how many children have food allergies and the fact that there is NO CURE!
You can also express appreciation for those people in your community who “get it.”
Families of children with food allergies appreciate your understanding in keeping our children safe at school. Our children long to be included, and we appreciate the kind heart of another child who sits at an allergen-free table with a safe lunch; we value parents who understand and provide safe food for classroom parties, and we celebrate the classroom teacher who reworks a lesson plan to include only safe foods.
Foodfacts.com urges you to see what you can do to educate others and create more awareness about food allergies!
